Stacy Lewis happy to find spot at Walmart NW Arkansas Championship 2012
American Stacy Lewis is happy to be back to Walmart NW Arkansas Championship 2012, as she said that she will try to do her best on the course this time.
Lewis is gearing up to participate in the tournament, set to be played from June 29 to July 1, at the prestigious Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers.
Speaking to the media about how she is going to fare against rivals at this week’s battle, the American star said that since Walmart NW Arkansas Championship is one of the key events on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour, so she is taking her game a bit more seriously now.
Mentioning her experience in the Championship, Lewis said that she has been performing well in the tournament for the last few seasons, and this time she is going to set foot on the course with renewed vigour.
“I mean, I like coming back here. It's one of my favourite events of the year. It's one of the craziest, for sure, but it's so much fun. I think every year, I tell my caddie, every year I come back and I've kind of slowly gotten better every year, and so the expectations keep going up and the craziness keeps going up,” the 27-year-old golfer said.
The golfing sensation went on to say that in order to do her best on the course, she has been training hard on the practice range, and thanks to the effort, she has been able to fix most of the lapses in her putting and swing.
She added that she is concentrating on gym exercises these days, which is proving beneficial for her. When asked how running has affected her game in recent months, Lewis said that she started running for strength, but for the past few weeks, she has not been able to work out.
“I haven't been running lately, my foot's been a little bummed, so I've just been like lifting and doing things like that. I enjoy running], it's something that allows me to get away,” the American prodigy said.
Analysts said that it has become very important for Lewis to perform well at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship 2012, as she has already grabbed the second position in Women’s World Golf Rankings.
