Stacy Lewis maintains lead in second round of Evian Masters 2012
American Stacy Lewis, who carded a 63 in the opening round of the Evian Masters 2012 to grab an early lead, maintained her momentum in the second round as well, as she scored a 69 to stay on the number one
position on the leaderboard.
Lewis was more than thrilled yesterday after she got off to an electrifying start in the Evian Masters 2012, being played at Evian-les-Bains, France, but she looked almost the same on the second day too, making
sure none of the contenders in the roster are able to rattle her.
Lewis kicked off her second round with full confidence, as she parred the first three holes. She started ramping up pressure on her rivals when she carded her first birdie on the par-4 4th holes.
Lewis received a huge round of applause from the crowd after she drained an eagle on the par-5 7th hole.
On the back nine, the American star seemed to be a little under pressure, as she lost her momentum on some of the holes. She carded bogeys on the 12th and 14th hole. However, the LPGA
(Ladies Professional Golf Association) titan was quick enough to atone for her blunder as she sank two birdies on the 15th and the last hole.
On the other hand, South Korean Ilhee Lee posted a 67 to stay on the second spot on the leaderboard. Lee displayed a superb game on the second day as well, because she did not let her rivals capitalise on her
mistakes she made on some holes.
The South Korean star recorded five birdies and no bogey in the round.
Speaking to the media at the end of the day, Lewis said that she is in her best form these days, but she will have to be more careful about her strokes in the next rounds. She said that she is happy with the
way she started the second round, but will want to avoid too many pars.
“Today was actually a little bit more of a struggle for me.  I wasn't really sure how I would play coming off a good score yesterday.  It's hard when you make pars and you feel like you're going backwards because
of all the birdies I made yesterday,” Lewis said.
