Stacy Lewis moves up in Rolex Player of the Year standings
Americana Stacy Lewis has boosted her position in the Rolex Player of the Year Points on the back of three victories in the current season.
Lewis has not only improved her position in terms of points advantage, but she has also become the top-ranked player in the United States, as she is currently standing at the second position
in Women’s World Golf Rankings.
South Korean Inbee Park has done well in the 2012 season as she is standing at the top of the Rolex Player of the Year standings. Park has earned a whopping $1,669,608 this year thanks to
her victory in the Evian Masters 2012.
In the recent past, Lewis has relished her golfing success more than any other player, having racked up three victories and several solid finishes. She surprised her fans early in the year
after she won the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic in April.
Then in June, the American star grabbed a 4-stroke victory against Australian Katherine Hull at the ShopRite LPGA Classic. Lewis’s success did not end there as she recently earned yet another
solid triumph at the Navistar LPGA Classic 2012.
Speaking to the media about her recent successes, Lewis said it is nice becoming the top-ranked American player. She said that she was confident right from the start of the current season
and just stayed focused.
“After I won in Atlantic City (at the ShopRite LPGA Classic), I definitely blew all my goals out, that’s when I became the top American,” said the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association)
titan, who is ambitiously chasing the current world number one Yani Tseng in world rankings.
Having surged past Tseng in Rolex Player of the Year standings (2012), Lewis said that her biggest goal now is to snatch the world number one position from her archrival — and for that, she
is keeping a close eye on Tseng.
“I had won a couple times, those were kind of my two main goals. Now I have my sights set on Yani (Tseng),” the American golfer said.
Having got her hands on the Navistar LPGA Classic title, Lewis will now be heading into a more crucial stage of the current season as she is eying title at the upcoming Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia
2012, scheduled to be played from October 11-14 at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, Malaysia, with her wallet significantly heavier.
