Stacy Lewis ready to dazzle rivals in Florida
American Stacy Lewis is the confirmed winner of the Rolex Player of the Year, but the upcoming CME Group Titleholders is going to see her play with a newfound vigour.
Lewis is the strongest contender in the roster of the four-day Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tournament, however, the competition has been given some added excitement due to the participation of other big names.
Current world number one Yani Tseng is eyeing the title at the tournament, scheduled to be staged from November 15-18, at Naples, Florida—and she can give a tough time to her rivals.
Despite a strong roster, Lewis appears pretty complacent and has vowed to play a natural game.
Although the hype of CME Group Titleholders has gripped every fan’s attention, most of the limelight will remain on Lewis and Inbee Park who is chasing the American on the Best Player of the Year list.
Lewis has put herself in a comfortable position and is sure to lift the accolade at the end of the current season, but Park is also trying to take the last title home.
It took Lewis to grab four victories and a total of 16 top-10 finishes to keep Park down in the battle for Rolex Player of the Year, but there is much more to her game than just eye-popping stats.
The American star has fixed most of the flaws in her putting, and her short game is now more solid than ever before.
Sharing her thoughts during her latest interview to the LPGA Tour in Florida, Lewis said that she is more than happy to see her name on top in the Player of the Year list and on second in the Women’s World Golf Rankings.
She said that her performance in most of the last tournaments has been amazing, especially in Asian tour.
“I don't know if it's quite sunk in yet. I've been running around like crazy since I clinched it last week in Mexico and it's unbelievable, especially the way I played the last few months with all the pressure, been thinking about it every day and all the time,” Lewis said.
“It's just crazy to me just how far I've come over the last few years and to be the best player on this Tour is, I mean, I don't even know what to say”.
