Stacy Lewis retakes second position in world rankings

American Stacy Lewis has clawed her way back to the second position in the Women’s World Golf Rankings, thanks to her fresh victory at the Navistar LPGA Classic 2012.
Just a week back, South Korean Na Yeon Choi had knocked Lewis off the second position in world ranking, pushing her one spot down to the third. However, the American star appears to have regained her foothold
in the sport as she surprised her fans after clinching the title at Navistar LPGA Classic 2012, and is now keen to pursue her biggest goal, which is grabbing the number one spot.
The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) phenom felt a bit under pressure after she failed to display her usual performance in some of the recent tournaments. A lacklustre performance from her had helped
other contenders, mostly South Koreans, rise to the occasion and gain higher positions in the Women’s World Golf Rankings.
Lewis’s performance at the Navistar LPGA Classic 2012, held at Prattville, Alabama, was nothing short of amazing as she outrivaled fellow American Lexi Thompson, who was defending her title.
Having carded an overall score of 270, Lewis managed to grab a two-stroke lead. The 27-year-old star displayed a balanced performance in all the four rounds and did not let her nerves overcome her.
Lewis has recently come out as the fast-learning player on the LPGA Tour as she has shown in the past events that she likes to fix her lapses whenever she sees the things are not going in the right direction.
For instance, in the second round at Prattville, the American golfer could not judge the well on some of the holes and her putting lacked precision. She worked on her strokes right after the round on Friday.
“I worked on a few things last night.  I wasn't happy with the way I played the back nine yesterday and it was really putts weren't going in; they were going to the edge and not going in, so I kind of worked
on some basics yesterday,” she said at the end of the second round at Prattville.
On the other hand, Lewis’s archrival Yani Tseng could not perform well as she registered an overall 284 to finish tied for the 46th position on the leaderboard.
