Stacy Lewis shrugs off concerns over jittery Americans, keen to rise to the top
Stacy Lewis may have had a problem over the season battling her way through the tough LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) line-up to gain the second position in world ranking, but
the golfing sensation is keen to lead jittery Americans amid concerns over their lacklustre performance.
Lewis recently spoke to the media and shared her thoughts about the current positions in the world rankings.
Lewis said that people like to know what has gone wrong with the Americans who ruled the women’s golf for decades. She pointed out that the question of how bad Americans have become lately
has been raging since last year.
In the recent past, Asians, particularly South Koreans, have emerged as the strongest contenders on the LPGA Tour as they have seized most of the top position in the Women’s World Golf Rankings.
A worse-than-average performance from most of the American stars led local fans to pin hopes on Lewis who appears to be in a far stronger position than her counterparts.
Lewis is firm and likes to put her trust in her game as she said she is ready to lead Americans through rough times.
“I’ve just gotten tired of having to answer that question, so I just figured I would take care of it myself,” she shared.
The world number two went on to say that she is happy with the way things are going in the current season as her performance has got a lot better lately. Getting off to a fiery start was the
right thing to do, and she capitalised on her vast experience.
The LPGA phenom is currently the top-ranked player in the United States as she has recently retaken the second position in the Women’s World Golf Rankings and is seeking to seize the top spot.
Despite her desire to rise to the top in the world rankings, Lewis has another important goal to keep an eye on, which is to win the Rolex Player of the Year Award (2012).
She is currently standing at the top of the list, having earned a whopping 184 points that she has recorded thanks to 14 top-10 finishes so far in the 2012 season.
