Stacy Lewis to grace “A” Walk of Honor in Arkansas
Stacy Lewis, who capped off the 2012 season in grand style, will grace the “A” Walk of Honor at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium on Friday, where the Arkansas-LSU football game will take
place.
Being University of Arkansas alum and the best female golfer in the United States and the world, Lewis will be invited to grace the event as a featured guest before Arkansas-LSU football game
formally kicks off.
University of Arkansas Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics, Jeff Long, said that the officials are more than thrilled to have Lewis as the featured guest and she will definitely attract
a larger audience this year.
Lewis is the first Razorback student-athlete who has been given the opportunity to grace the “Running through the A,” which is the University’s long-standing football tradition.
Director of Athletics University of Arkansas further said that the rare chance was given to Lewis keeping in view her achievements as the current LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association)
member and for her support to the Razorback Athletics.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome back a great Razorback and the world’s top female golfer to participate in the “A” Walk of Honor,” said Long.
“We are all extremely proud of her tremendous accomplishments, but even more so of her character, generosity and focus on helping others”.
Long went on to say that he is sure that the participation of Lewis at the event will help her project her image as a golfer in a more effective fashion.
“As much as she has accomplished on the golf course in both her collegiate and professional careers, Stacy’s positive impact on our program continues to make a difference in the lives of Razorback
student-athletes,” Long said.
Lewis surprised her fans in the United States and rivals across the world after she won the Best Player the Year award—thanks largely to four victories and a total of 16 top-10 finishes for
the year 2012.
More importantly, the hype Lewis has generated in the recent past cannot only be attributed to her best performance in the season, but her resilience in the face of a strong resistance by
Asian contenders who still dominate the top slots in world rankings.
