Stacy Lewis to grace the field at CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012
American Stacy Lewis, who kicked off the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012 in impressive style but could not hold her ground against players like South Korean So Yeon Ryu, can atone for her lapses in the upcoming
CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012 set to start next week in Canada.
The CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012 will be staged at the Vancouver Golf Club, with a strong roster packed with most of the big names on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour.
Lewis, who was confident that she would win the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012, has now set her sights on CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012 as she desperately wants to record a win in order to cement her position
in the world rankings.
The American star currently ranks second in the Women’s World Golf Rankings, but she has to keep a close eye on her nearest rivals who are attempting to topple her from her position.
So far, Lewis has been able to keep most of her nearest rivals at bay, but South Korean Na Yeon Choi and Chinese Shanshan Feng have emerged as the growing threat for her.
Choi stunned the golf world a few weeks back after she recorded her first major title at the US Women’s Open, in July. On the other hand, Feng has also proved her worth by grabbing a major title at the LPGA
Championship 2012.
No matter how tough the CN Canadian Women’s Open roster may be, Lewis is keeping her hopes alive as she knows that the only thing that will help her remain in contention is patience and resilience.
Analysts said that Lewis is the only American player who seems to give a tough time to battle-hardened Asian rivals at the moment. Whereas most of the past star performers have now gone behind the scene, struggling
to get back on track.
Another American contender who can give Asian rivals a run for their money is Angela Stanford. Stanford displayed a tremendous performance at the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012 as she carded an overall score
of 271 finishing runner-up.
Analysts also pointed out that Canadian spectators are expected to give support to the national players, but Americans can also capitalise on the support as they have good following in the Vancouver.
