Stade Brestois 1-1 http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130: Ligue 1 match report
Stade Brestois and Olympique Lyonnais clashed at Stade Francis-Le Ble. The game finished in a 1-1 draw in the third week of 2011/12 Ligue 1 Championelle.
Brest and Lyon kept their 2011/2012 ambitions intact as Brest continued their run of stalemates, whereas Lyon ended up conceding the opening goal. Both teams remain unbeaten in the 2011/2012 Ligue 1 Championelle.
Remi Garde, coach of Les Gones, opened the game with star from UEFA Champions League playoff, Michel Bastos, on the bench along with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Miralem-Pjanic-c25984 and two 19-year-olds, Sidy Kone and Ishak Belfodil,
making their first Ligue 1 starts.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Dupont, Brest manager, came close to breaking their fruitless home run but was denied by the late strike of Bafetimbi Gomis. The Brittany club have not won their last six home games.
Brest took the lead in the 12th minute. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bruno-c8098 Grougi’s aerial ball was deflected by Romain Poyet into the path of Benoit Lesoimier, who used his right foot to stop the ball and let loose a howitzer of a shot towards the top corner, past goalkeeper
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Lloris-c16408, who managed to put a hand to it but could not stop it from reaching the back of the net.
The French number one goalkeeper had to be on his toes as the Breton-based club kept attacking the Lyon goal but were thwarted by the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international. Brest came close to doubling their lead just before the half-time mark as Nolan Roux failed to make
contact with a cross from Poyet.
Coming back into the second half with a goal deficit, Garde brought in some experience onto the field as he replaced striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-Bastos-c25461. Les Gones finally found their rhythm as Pjanic came close to equalising but was thwarted by the
diving Steeve Elana.
Lyon suffered a major setback as Sidy Kone was shown a red card, reducing Les Gones, and their equalizing chances, to ten men. Kone’s two-footed lunge on Roux made the referee issue a red card without any hesitation.
Despite being a man down, Lyon did not lose their touch and kept their cool as the home team sat deeper in their half, doing little to trouble goalkeeper Lloris in contrast to their first-half efforts.
In the 69th minute, Michel Bastos took advantage of some lazy defending by Ousmane Coulibaly, sending Bafetimbi Gomis through on goal with a good pass. The attacker took a great turn and sent a low shot from the edge of the box into the right
corner.
Energized by their goal, the Rhone club came close to taking all three points with just 15 minutes remaining in the play, when the Brazilian international Bastos sent a ball inches wide of Brittany’s goalpost. Brest and Lyon had to share the spoils as the
match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Olympique Lyonnais climb to the fifth spot with one win and two draws, whereas Stade Brestois fall to the 13th position having drawn the first three games of their 2011/2012 Ligue 1 season.
