After selling striker Nolan Roux to Ligue 1 champions LOSC Lille, Stade Brestois coach Alex Dupont may also lose the services of defender Jonathan Zebina and the Frenchman is certainly not happy with the concept of a winter transfer window
If he had to resolve the issue of controversial striker Nolan Roux this winter, Stade Brestois coach http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonathan-Zebina-c19071 who he signed last summer.
While talking to the media, the Frenchman gave his opinion on the departure of Nolan Roux to Lille. The 57-year-old said that he had no choice but to let go of Roux. Lille met Brestois’ valuation of the striker and Dupont could not become a hurdle in the
youngster’s way who had already faced the pain of not being able to secure a move to German Bundesliga side Schalke 04 last summer.
LOSC Lille are now considering making a move for Jonathan Zebina. The Frenchman only joined the Britton side last summer from Italian Serie A side Juventus. However, Dupont is desperate to hold on to the veteran defender who has restored some sanity to the
side’s defensive woes.
Dupont admits that though Lille are interested in Zebina, they are yet to make a direct contact.
Dupont also spoke about life after Roux’s departure and said, “The important thing is to keep our team spirit and I think it is. Do not think it degrades us because it is our strength.”
Currently, as many as 12 Brest players are missing due to injuries and the African Cup of Nations. Despite that, Dupont is optimistic about his side’s chances of giving a full account of themselves.
However, the former Sedan coach certainly has strong feelings for the winter transfer window. The Frenchman feels that this transfer window should be abolished.
“What I deplore is the winter transfer window. It should not exist. It undermines sporting fairness, it ends clubs like ours with limited resources. I thought Nolan would have earlier this summer.”
Certainly the Frenchman has a point as many clubs with a limited budget do find it hard to spend money on new players two times a year but it seems unlikely that the winter transfer window would be abolished.
