The French tactician who had been the club’s coach since 2008, has been relieved of his services with immediate effect. Corentin Martins will now replace him at the helm
A friendly club with affordable players and a coach appreciated and loved by the public and media. Everything seemed to be going well in a brave new world called Brest in recent years with promotion to Ligue and survival last season.
However, a series of poor results has quickly changed the atmosphere. The new year started on a terrible fashion for the club and in recent games, apart from a 3-1 win over Lille, Stade Brestois have not managed to win that many games.
Now, the club is in the dreaded relegation zone and have just five games left to set the record straight.
The January transfer window was a busy one for Brest as they lost Nolan Roux to Lille. Now, the management has decided to dispose of Alex Dupont, the man who has been the club’s coach since 2008.
Corentin Martins, the club’s assistant coach, has now replaced the 57-year-old and will be looking to take the club out of this tricky situation.
The 57-year-old tactician won promotion to the Ligue 1 with Brest back in 2010 and the club did pretty well under him.
Brest president, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-c25453 Guyot, with a heavy heart said that it was a really tough decision for him to sack a man who brought the club to Ligue 1.
“Alex will remain the coach who brought Brest in Ligue 1. I’m separating myself from a friend. Like any human being, I have a heart. I’m going to go home and shut myself up because it was a tough decision. I know what http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Dupont is to the city of Brest.”
Stade Brestois can’t afford to keep on making mistakes and many would feel that it was unfair to sack Dupont as the French tactician could be the only man who could have helped Brest.
Dupont has now been replaced by former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AJ-Auxerre-c38247, Girondins de Bordeaux and RC Strasbourg during his time as a player.
