Stade Brestois star Nolan Roux refuses to play for the club – Ligue 1 news
Ligue 1 side Stade Brestois youngster Nolan Roux was in phenomenal form for his club in the 2010/2011 Ligue 1 season as Brest finished 16th in the Ligue 1 standings.
Roux played 28 league games for the Brittany club and scored six goals. Though six goals in a season do not make Roux a prolific striker, his efforts had done enough to attract the attention of German Bundesliga side Schalke 04.
The Germans had been monitoring the youngster’s progress for a long time and even tried to sign him in the January transfer window earlier this year. However, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues chose to wait for the 2010/2011 campaign to end before making any moves for the
23-year-old.
However, things took a bad shape for both Roux and Schalke when Stade Brestois simply rejected all advances made by Schalke. Roux was keen on making a switch to the Gelsenkirchen club but Brest’s reluctance in opening a dialogue with the German side has
left the striker in limbo.
Reports in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-c25453 Guyot is adamant that he will not let go of his star player for anything less
than eight million Euros.
According to francefootball.fr, Roux is looking to set up a meeting with the president to express his desire to leave Stade Francis-Le Ble. The youngster is clearly unhappy at his club’s stance and is now looking to force a move out of the Brittany club
by not taking part in the preseason training.
Schalke initially launched a 6.5 million Euros bid for the young striker which was refused by Brest. However, it now appears that Brest are not even willing to start negotiations with Schalke in a bid to keep hold of the player who wants to leave this summer.
Stade Brestois’ desperateness to keep hold of the 23-year-old is definitely making things complicated for both the player and the club itself. The want-away striker’s recent stance at the club’s decision might be too harsh and unprofessional but Stade Brestois
should consider selling the player as it won’t have a good effect on the morale of the rest of the squad.
