While talking to media, Stade Rennais sporting director, Pierre Dreossi returned to the activities in the winter transfer window and also expressed his desire to make Stade Rennais an elite club in the French Ligue 1
Often in contention, but winning nothing, that’s what the reputation follows Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais wherever they go. For several seasons, Stade Rennais have entertained fans and neutrals alike but when it comes to delivering, the Bretons always seem
to fall short.
However, the club’s director, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pierre-c29989 Dreossi is hopeful of changing all that. While giving an interview to L’Est Republicain, the Frenchman spoke about his ambitions with the club.
“We bought Hadji, Feret, Pitroipa and Costil. They are all playing right now. The team has become even more interesting with the purchase of Mevlut Erdinç at the end of January.”
These efforts (of bringing new players) do indicate the club’s future ambitions. The club’s shareholder is keen on advancing and wants to make the club a force to be reckoned with for years to come.
Getting beyond a fifth place is what Dreossi is aiming at and the Frenchman thinks that his side needs to test the likes of Lyon, Lille, Marseille and Montpellier who are all having exceptional seasons.
Sixth place, three points behind a European place, Frederic Antonetti’s men couldn’t have been in a better position.
However, if the Bretons have ambitions of going big in the transfer market, they are in no way looking to look away from their training centre that has done exceptionally well in the last few years.
“50% of our strength comes from the training centre, 25% from the Ligue 1. We add real value. This is still the case with Mevlut who was already in our plans three years ago.”
Certainly, Stade Rennais are going in the right direction. A few years ago, Stade Rennais fielded a young player named Yann M’Vila. Today, the defensive midfielder has become an integral part of both club and country. Though he has been linked with a move
away from the club, M’Vila could choose to stay at the club for a little longer as things are changing rapidly in Breton.
