I would like ideas for a staff training session. I work in a nursery & would like my staff to understand a particular policy. Any ideas on how I can make it into a fun learning experience.

  1. It depends on what type of policy you're doing some can be fun and some are just plain boring! Try splitting the staff into teams and have a 'pub quiz' or a treasure hunt. Invite people in for practical demonstrations and talks ie the use of fire exstinguishers or curriculum for excellence. It also depends on how enthusiastic the staff are to participate.

  2. Hi Vic

Take them out and give them a fun experience where you can use the experience of the activities to help them reflect on the particular policy you want to share with them.

  3. I'm in the same situation with you.  If the policy is new and not included in the employee handbook, then you will need to type it out and have every single employee sign and date it to be placed in their file.  This should send the message that they need to adhere to this policy.  Good luck!!!

  4. Depending on the policy but I would make it a fun thing. If it is health and safety policy make it roleplay putting the staff into teams with one being the child and the other being the workers. Its fun and it gets the message through.

  5. I agree with the previous answer - it depends upon what you are trying to teach them.  If the policy has many aspects to it (such as a dress code, absentee policy, appropriate child discipline, etc.), make a jeopardy game out of it.  Be sure to have prizes - winners get a free pizza for lunch one day.
