Staffing services? legal? helpful?

so what s the story? i'm looking for jobs on line, and to apply, i have to go through a third party 'staffing company'! should i give all information they require? one of them even asked for my SS#! what s best to do?

  1. You need to research these staffing companies.  There are real staffing companies out there (Account Temps, Robert Half, Kelly, that are nationally known).  Then there are tons of scammers looking to get your identitiy, email address and personal info to sell to others.

    Stay away from any company offering big dollars for easy work and no experience, work from home, etc.  

    You can also do a Yahoo search using the following where x*x is the name of the staffing company..     x*x scam rip off

    You should get some hits.

    If they don't have a phone number for you to contact directly I would be weary of giving any information.

    A lot of companies do use staffing or screening companies so do not be surprised by this.  It is just part of the "outsourcing" world we live in.
