  1. 2007 or 2008?

First advice is to make sure you know when Oktoberfest runs - it's mostly in September.  It would suck to get there October 15 and have it be over.

Second, you don't say what type of hotel you want.  There is a place called Hotel Uhland that is very near the fairgrounds, the staff is nice, and is a place to lay your head at night.  It's nothing great, but it's fairly clean and it's convenient.  Also look into the Four Points.  Great location, clean rooms, and not too expensive.

Third, be sure to get plenty of Euros at the ATM when you arrive.  The tents only accept cash and the beer wenches don't always speak English.  And yes, you do tip them.  Learn to count up to the number of people you are traveling with and be able to say please and thank you.  Luckily, beer is bier.  Same pronounciation.

Fourth, get to the tents EARLY!  As tourists, you WILL NOT be able to find seats later in the evening.  Arrive between 12pm and 2pm for the best selection.  And remember, you must be seated to be served.

Fifth, pace yourself!  The beer is in Litres.  There are nearly 4 litres in a gallon, so if you drink non-stop then you will be too hammered to make it home.  Savor your beer and ask for water.

You can find plenty of food at the fairgrounds and some hotels include breakfast.  If not, find a market or fruit stand and buy your water and breakfast there.

    They'll have a blast and I might see them there!  : )

  2. stay at the Youth Hostel.  Everyone is drunk, the women are easy, and the fun is all night long!

  3. Just stay in any available hotel and don't forget to bring the beer.

  4. Check the Oktober Fest web site for the dates of which year you want to do the party. This site gives info on hotels, transportation, etc.

Where is everyone coming from, the US, UK, stationed in Europe? Your best bet would be a tour. Many of the tour offers can arrange a table(that is a long complicated thing and alone in this site you will get many answers from plain wacky to sort of correct) in a tent. Most tables at the Oktober Fest can seat 10 people, maybe more depending on the tent and how much beer your drink.

Cheap hotel during the Oktober Fest, depends on what your idea of cheap is, for starters I would check any online hotel booking to get an idea. Another thing with a tour in regards to price is that the hotel will be cheaper if not loacted directly in Munich city.

Logistics for something like this are not easy(been there, done that) so I will offer anther option; Do the Stag thing before or after Oktober Fest at one of the beer halls in Munchen - the Hofbrau Haus or Loewen Brau. getting a table there is a bit easier and hotels will certainly be cheaper. And Munich is in the Oktober Fest 'spirit' from September til Christmas anyway.

As far as eating, everyone will tell you food at the Oktober fest is exspensive, yes it is. But, I think the same could be said about a hotdog and Coke at Yankee Stadium. That said, Munich is a tourist city so finding places to eat with menus in English is not a big problem. Many take credit cards, or bank debit card, but be prepared with cash/Euros. And, there are always the Golden Arches of McDonald's.

    Good Luck

  5. Ooohhhh, can i come?

  6. BOOK YOUR HOTEL WAAAAY IN ADVANCE!!!!!!

They all book up way quickly! As soon as you know the dates you are going, BOOK YOUR ROOMS!! Or you will end up either paying WAY TOO MUCH or staying WAY TOO FAR.
