My mum and singing teacher say i have a nice voice and i think i do too, and we can perform at assembly's and my friends think i should do an item. But i am worried wat the school will say, if they will laugh, if they will tease. That is why i have stage fright and will not go up.

I will go up in a choir, but by myself i am terrible.

Please help me.

I write my own songs and everything, but after an event last year i have been a bit nervous about performing by myself.

  1. The thing i always do is NEVER actually look at the audience, just pick a spot on the back of the hall, or where ever you are and just look there. over the audience's heads. it will look like you are looking at the audience. It helps my stage fright so hope it helps yours . =)

  2. If you have a good voice, they won't laugh. Okay have you ever seen somone preform before? did you want too laugh at them or were you mostly just didnt care? thats what they'll think. The hole time they wont be concintrating on how bad you are!

  3. Just do it. The only thing that will really help is by getting used to it so make sure you take every performance opportunity you can get.

You will only get better and if you suck and people tease you just tell them to get lost because chances are they are completely talentless, unlike you.

  4. forget about what they think. but if it helps, just let your mind loose while performing and just sing the lyrics from your head. don't concentrate on the audience. that's how i got over my stage fright for my drama class.

  6. do a duet first

the more time you spend on the stage the more comfortable you should be with it

    :)

  7. Try to focus on your singing. Also try to think that you are practicing and that no one is looking at you.

  8. Well I'm still a bit nervous but all i do is think nobody is there and just think about you just Running over your lines in front of nothing. even if your still nervous just go straight ahead and if you miss something just forget it. Email me Michaelweller@hotmail.co.uk

  9. You need to gain confidence about who you are and what you do.  If you are confident that you can do well there is nothing to be afraid of.

Look at everyone of the audience members and just think to yourself, that none of them can do as well as you are doing!

By not singing you are denying yourself the opportunity to fully express your talents,

  10. Hun, there's always going to be someone there judging you whether you're singing or you're not. They probably don't have the balls to get up and do what you're doing. I've been through the same thing. If they don't like it, **** them. What helps when I'm onstage is just like, don't look anyone in the eye, look over their heads, but even though you're not, it still looks like you're making contact and connecting with the audience. The best advice anyone has ever given me: "Just do it. You don't wanna be sitting around and wondering what could have been." And it's true. Just be yourself & give your 110% hun.

  11. Here.. I'd help u....Well I'm like that too. I participate in singing competitions but, doesn't get d prize. But I'm not sad.I had my own experience too .I participated in a contest & when I was singing I forgot a line of the song. That even made our group lose. But that was a lesson 4 me, I should practice always, cuz practice makes perfect. And one thing is just think dt all those people are just a bunch of ants, or just think that u are in ur room singing.Be comfortable cuz u can do anything, & achieving ur dream takes determination! If u fail u should consider it as a lesson 4 u. Remember that nobody's perfect, so what if u lose in a competition. At least u tried ur best. If they were the one 2 sing in front of d audience, could they hold on 2 singing d song til d last drop of their voices?. You should express what u sing.let me tell u 1 thing, not all people have a nice voice, you are even lucky because u have the voice.I got a sore throat cuz I gave up in singing, that's why I continued in singing cuz of that sore throat that god gave me. Give facial expressions, and know that you'll succeed someday! Remember You should fail and fail and that's why you'll succeed.

    Hope I helped!

  12. Sometimes you just have to say s***w it. Because in reality you do this stuff for yourself, and hey if people like it, even better! I plan on playing guitar and singing in front of a bunch of people soon and I'm more anxious than nervous!

  13. I think you should definitely go up!

To overcome Stage fright is hard!

But here are some things to do to help you overcome it.

    1) Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse! So you are happy with what you are doing.

    2) Practice in front of a mirror. To see how you look. And find out how you can improve.

    3) Read this article to build your confidence

    4) Think that if you go an sing then next time you won't have stage fright.

Once you go up, you will have so much fun. You will want topreformm again. You shouldn't miss out on the fun just because you think you look stupid. You probably don't but it is just in your mind.

As for the rude people. There isn't much you can do. Just ignore those that are mean and remember that there are people who will think your great!

Go up there and sing your heart out!
