What is the definition of Stage Technology (i.e. lighting) ?

  1. I just responded to this exact Q 2 days ago I think.

       Commonly known as Theater Technology in a school program sense, it involves learning all aspects of

    "production" work as it relates to being a CREW member for things such as

    Load in/Load out

    Curtain Hanging

    Pipe work

    Drops/Scrims

    Lighting, all types, including Par and follow spots, also including knowledge and installation of Gels and Gobo's

    Audio Visual techs for monitors and sound, as well as any on/off stage projection, such as power point.

    Installing the set loaded in.

    Occasional moving, on and off stage of large set pieces Blocked.

    Etc.

       In a Theater sense, most crew belong to IATSE.

      Certainly it's beneficial for SM's and ASM's to also understand the same aspects, while not being allowed to do any actual set up.
