Help... this weekend my husband and I hosted an anniversary get together for several friends, someone dropped a piece of cake on my caramel colored leather sofa. A very saturated shade of red and green, icing roses no less. It was left there for a very short amount of time,But nevertheless now I have a very set in stain. Other than call in a professional is there something I could do to treat this stain at home?

  1. The successful removal will depend on the type of leather you have

If the stain is on a finished (protected) leather then something like Maxi Cleaner may resolve the problem but there may be residual dyes that have gone too far into the leather finish and this would need a qualified leather technician (not necessarily a cleaner) to remove it or recolour the leather for you.

If you have an aniline style leather (one that absorbs moisture) then this will be a more complex problem and would be better left to a qualified person to rectify

Protecting leather with a tested leather protector is crucial to help inhibit this type of problem
