Stained Glass or Sun Catchers???

Question

How is stained glass made and would a hobby store be the place to find materials to make this? Our boys want to do this for extra credit for school but I'm not sure where to start.

Any craft/fabric/ store has them.

Even places like walmart--meijer--have them in the kids section

Michaels has kits to make both.  You probably want to use the kits for school aged children particularly for the stained glass because safety is built in and they won't have to do any of the glass cutting because it is pre-cut in the kit.  Also, they don't use lead, they use a type of tape that resembles lead but has none in it. The sun catcher kits are rated by age so you can find one age appropriate.  They also have some really cool dream catcher kits that they might enjoy making which give the history of them and were designed by different Indian tribe members.
