Question:

Stained White PVC Facia board?

by  |  earlier

My White PVC facia board has become stained with grey streaks where water has dripped down from between it and the guttering

I've tried everything to get it off- power hosing, Cif and even T-Cut

Anyone know a good way to remove it as it seems to have become ingrained in it but it's very unsightly?

Any help much appreciated

  1. You may just have to paint over it. I am sorry, but if a chemical will not remove it then it aint coming off. You also need to fix whatever is causing it, if water is flowing between your gutter and facia board. Water can collect behind the facia board and get into your boxing/soffet. that will cause rot and eventually get into the walls. Usually a simple fix is simply getting some metal flashing from your home improvement store, cutting it about 8 inches long, and sliding it under the bottom most shingles, with some caulk or liquid nails, to hold it in place. Have it hang over about 3 to 4 inches past the edge of your facia board. Hope this helps.

  2. 5% calcium chloride solution. That is plain old bleach like you use in the laundry.

Pour bleach undiluted into a spray bottle. Climb up there and spray those unsightly streaks. They will disappear.

Bleach will not harm PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride) as they are both made of Chloride.
