  1. stainles STEEL, not steal as in thief is a non magnetic metal.

  2. It's non magnetic.

  3. stainless steel is not magnetic. use a magnet test it.

if it connects... its not stainless. if it doesnt... it could be stainless

    good luck

    :)

  4. use a magnet stainless steel is a non ferrus metal and so will not stick to a magnet.

  5. some stainless steels do pick up on a magnet, some rust and some don't,...

  6. use a magnet, and chrome will chip...it is a plated coating.

  7. It's not magnetic

  8. The magnet test will only tell you that its not steel. But it could be chrome plated brass and not be magnetic. The best way to tell without cutting it is to look and feel. Chrome is shinier than stainless and has a different feel to it. Stainless may also be marked as such in an area that is not usually seen.

  9. Chrome plating is done on mild steel and is therefore magnetic. Stainless steel is non magnetic.

  10. Although it can contain as much as maybe 30% of Chromium, no matter how much you polish it, most Stainless Steel (SS) has a slightly different color from Chromium (plating). This is because the rest of it is iron, possibly with nickel, molybdenum or other minor constituents.

Chrome (electro)plate is usually on an iron base and if so, it will exhibit ferromagnetism, that is, a magnet will stick to it. Chromium may also be applied by other means (vacuum deposition. e.g.) on other substrates, usually plastics such as ABS. Just check the weight!

There are five main kinds of SS, some of which (ferritic, martensitic) exhibit ferromagnetism and some (austenitic) which do not.  Higher levels of nickel changes the grain structure and kills the magnetism.

  11. Chrome is a plating process and has a higher reflective value than stainless steel.

Chrome will take a magnet and stainless steel won't.

  12. hi,the easest way is to rub an onion on it if it goes black its alliminium
