Ok I need to know how to get black permanant marker off of a cars interior. The name of the interior escapes me but leather comes to mind when I feel it but I don't think it's leather...I've tried everything from household cleaners and "Goo be gone" to sponges and magic erasers but nothing seems to work. What should I do?

  1. This'll come across as a school science experiment.........

But you need to find out what chemical will re-liquefy the ink.

If you have the marker, try marking the top of a can, then put a few drops of the following chemicals on it.

    1) nail polish remover,

    2) paint thinner,

    3) xylol,

    4) lacquer thinner.

Work with which ever one lifts the ink the best.

First in an inconspicuous place rub some on the seat material to test if it is going to stain it worse.

If it doesn't..........moisten the marker spot with it, scrape it with a blunt edge to really work it in, then dab the spot with a paper towel, or anything else that is very absorbent.

If it doesn't remove it, it should at least be lighter and less noticeable.

    Or, just get seat-covers.

I can't think of anything else that would work.

PS-If it is leather, you might be SOL. The leather absorbs the ink and there will be NO way to remove it.
