The FC Koln manager has urged his players to get their acts together after being thrashed 6-1 at home by Borussia Dortmund.
FC Koln manager, Stale Solbakken, has expressed his disappointment after losing to Borussia Dortmund at the weekend. Both sides locked heads on Sunday, March 25, at the RheinEnergieStadion with the Borussians winning by a 6-1 margin.
The Billy Goats were better in the first half where they took the lead through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Milivoje-Novakovic-c25859 in the 13th minute. Solbakken insisted that his players were brilliant in the first 45 minutes but failed to keep up with
pace in the second period and completely lost the plot.
The tactician claimed that there can be no excuses to the defeat and stressed that Koln must try figure out the solution to their problems to get back to winning ways. He admitted that the Borussians were relentless in the second-half
and deserved to emerge out with all the three points.
While talking to official Bundesliga website, the tactician further added: “The last 20 minutes were unacceptable. We lost our heads after their third goal and I have no explanation for why. We need to be stronger mentally in our
situation.”
On the other hand, Dortmund manager, Jurgen Klopp also revealed that his team were below-par in the first half. He thought that the hosts did well to keep them away from scoring but admired the performance in the second period.
The boss hailed Piszczek’s first-half equaliser which reignited confidence in Dortmund’s ranks and eventually led them to score five quick-fire goals in the next 45 minutes.
“We didn't play particularly well in the first half, so I let the team know. The equaliser did us good. The important thing was that the team kept at it. Our opponents didn't have much in reply,” Klopp concluded.
This victory has stretched Dortmund’s lead to five points atop the league table from Bayern Munich while Koln stand just one point clear of the drop zone. The Borussians will next take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879 on Friday, March 30, whereas
the Billy Goats travel to Augsburg on Saturday, March 31.
