The FC Koln manager has urged his side to get back to winning ways in order to move away from the drop zone.
Stale Solbakken has expressed his desire to distance his team away from the relegation zone. He was talking ahead of Koln’s trip to Augsburg on Saturday, March 31, at the SGL arena. A win could lead the side up to the 11th
spot but a loss might force them into relegation battle.
The manager stated that each of his players understands the importance of this game and will go all out against a decent Augsburg side. He admitted that the hosts have been extremely impressive at home in the past few weeks but
still urged his players to give more than hundred percent and try securing three points to ensure safety.
Solbakken also suggested that his team needs to get the Dortmund game out of their minds if they want to do well against the Fuggerstadter. The Billy Goats succumbed to a 6-1 loss at home to the Borussians after conceding three
goals inside the last 10 minutes despite being in the lead at the end of the first-half.
While talking to sportinglife.com, Solbakken further added:
"We can read the league table. It is an extremely important game for both sides and any points you pick up against a direct rival could prove decisive. The last 10 minutes against Dortmund were bad, but we have to forget about
that and ensure that we improve. I am expecting a good game."
On the other hand, Augsburg manager Jos Luhukay claimed that it will be extremely hard for Koln to beat his team in front of the home fans. He also urged his players to keep up the good work and see off the opposition to climb
at least two places up in the league standings.
"We have become difficult to beat. We are in good form, have not lost in five and we have even avoided defeat in seven consecutive home games. We want to extend this record in our home game against Cologne and keep the three points
here in Augsburg,” Luhukay concluded.
Augsburg are currently 15th in the league standings with 27 points while Koln are 14th with 28. Both teams will be pushing hard for a win in order to secure themselves from falling into the drop zone.
