Question:

Stammer is getting worse?

I've always had trouble with a stammer. Recently, it seems to be getting a lot worse, for example i can't physically say words like i have a block or something. It's very annoying because if i'm trying to say something there's this really long pause in the middle of the sentence. Or sometimes i just repeat the first letter of a word i'm trying to say, but i can't seem to help it. S and w i've noticed are particularly bad. Anyone have any advice for me? I'm 14.

  1. My advice is that you need to see a speech language pathologist. Talk to your parents about what you're going through and you can get some help. Good luck! :)

  2. Yeah, I agree, seeing a speech therapist would probably be really helpful.

  3. I also stammer/stutter and it is very annoying. I'm 16 now, but when I was younger I went to a speech pathologist. They won't be able to fix all of it, obviously since I still do it myself. I have adapted to the stammering and I know when I am about to stutter. When that happens I try not to say the word, but find another word that can say the same thing. It doesn't always work, but it helps me. Just keep your head up and try reading aloud by yourself; it will help with your speech.
