I have just been looking through a relatives things that have passed away and I have found LOADS of stamps and I dont know what to do with them.

I would like to keep them and find out if they are worth any money but i dont have the time to go to an auctions or the money to get a private valuer round

Could you tell me all about stamps they are not in albums 99% are first day covers(dont know what that means). i've got some on the royal family, transport, animals, police, cars etc.

Most have 4 stamps in of different designs in plastic wrapping and some have the original envelopes with the actual stamps on. I also have a5 postcards with the pictures of the stamps on the front.

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks alot.

  1. www.stanleygibbons.com

  2. Go to Stanley Gibbons if you must, but my expectations would not be high.  There are smaller private dealers who will probably offer you a price which is as good as SG.  Just that everyone knows about them.

Problem with a large collection is that most dealers will not have time to find the one nugget buried in thousands of relatively common stamps.  If you have time, get the Sg catalogue and sort out anything which looks like it might have value.  Otherwise, let an experience collector, such as me, look through it on a commission basis.  Believe me, this is not a job for the faint hearted!

  3. Have a look at www.stanleygibbons.com

Established in 1856, Stanley Gibbons Ltd is a leading collectibles and investment company with offices in London, Ringwood, Bristol and Guernsey. Edward Stanley Gibbons founded the company when he began dealing in postage stamps following the acquisition of a sackful of rare stamps brought back from the South Africa by two sailors.

  4. I M HAVING A STAMP COLLECTION!

1ST I GOT EACH OF THEM LAMINATED THEN I STICKED THEM IN A NOTE BOOK
