Stan James Laurels recap: part one
The Stan James Laurels kicked off Thursday night at Belle Vue with a crash. In the third heat, Jordansoilutions collided with Mill Pinpoint, knocking them both out of the Laurels. The heat was full of
strong candidates to make it to the finals, Pinpoint and Jordansoilutions were at the top of that list.
Here is the recap of the first three heats of the Stan James Laurels.
Stan James Laurels Heat 1
In the first heat of the Laurels, Fatboyz Romeo got off to one of the best starts of the first round, and used it to win over 5-4 race favourite, Judicial Pause, by 1½ lengths.  In third place was Ping
The Lids, a ½ length back of Pause.
Eliminated from the Laurels was Boolavogue, who finished in fourth. He finished only a ½ length behind Ping, and had ample opportunity to slip into the top three.
In fifth was Tuttles Maldini, and in sixth Killieford Fire. Both Maldini and Fire were well back of the top four.
Stan James Laurels Heat 2
Magna Buddy, the 5-4 race favourite, got off to a good start in the second heat, but as a precursor to heat three, he was hit on the first bend, and the good start was wasted. He did manage to finish in
third, 8¼ lengths behind the winner, and will advance to the semi-finals.
After Buddy fell back in the first bend, Target Brett jumped into the lead, but it was short lived as Hello Dino pushed his way into first on the fourth bend. Dino ended up winning the race by 2¼ lengths
over Brett.
Peggys Way couldn’t escape the first bend’s slow down, and finished in fourth place. The race’s two longshots, Drumcrow Cadet and Wally Billy, had difficulty on a couple bends, and finished in fifth and
sixth respectively.
Stan James Laurels Heat 3
There were four strong competitors in the third heat, one of them at least was going to miss out on the second round. Trainer Charlie Lister had three hounds in this one, and while he might have hoped
for a one-two-three finish, it was not to be.
Lister’s best chance to advance, Jordansoilutions, collided with Mill Pinpoint, the 13-8 race favourite, on the third bend, and both hounds went to the ground. They were leading at the time of the collision,
and had a bit of a gap on the pack. With ample space to avoid the fallen dogs, Jordan Light and Yahoo Jamie, Lister’s other two hounds, found themselves out in front.
Light ended up taking the race by a ½ length over Jamie, and November Weather, a 12-1 longshot, took third place, a head behind Jamie.
Eliminated with Pinpoint and Jordansoilutions was the other longshot of the race, Razldazl Dazl.
