  1. No, not here in the States.  A concept like this is available in Europe called the "Last Minute Desk".

I would suggest going on each of the individual airline sites and looking for "Net Saver Fares" or similar.  These are generally posted on Wednesdays for travel the upcoming weekend.  Keep in mind, though, that finding any deals like this are becoming non-existent due to frequency reductions and a need for overall higher fares to sustain the business.  You can also check Travelzoo.com for any deals.

  2. ITZ NOT LIKE THAT

EVERY AIRLINE HAS ITS OWN TERMS & CONDITIONS...........

U CAN NOT PAY HALF OR WATEVER AMOUNT U WANT TO PAY...........

U CAN CONTACT THE AIRLINE AT THE AIRPORT N GET THE RESERVATION DONE

OR U CAN ASK THEM ABOUT THE CHEAPEST FARE AVAILABLE BEFORE 2-3 HOURS OF FLIGHT DEPARTURE.......

BECOZ THEIR R SOME SECURITY CHECKINGS ALSO FOR WHICH U HV TO REACH THE AIRPORT IN ADVANCE.!

  3. You can try, but usually the flights are full. Especially domestic flights.

  4. If you are in the US, standby fares do not exist. In fact, buying at the last minute is the most expensive possible way to travel. Airlines deliberately design their fare structures so that last-minute travelers pay the highest prices.  If you're in another country, things may work differently.

Domestic flights are, on average, more than 80% full. That means that the discount seats will generally be sold out on the day of departure. You won't qualify for an advance purchase discount. In other words, expect to pay the full, non-discounted fare.

With load factors of over 80%, and airlines cutting capacity, you may not be able to get a seat at any price just by showing up.
