ok, so i was telling my friends of how i got trapped in these train doors once, the announcement "the train is ready to depart, stand clear of the closing doors please" came on, i realised it was my station and i got trapped in a way. the problem is, and its really annoying me, is that cant remember where it was. could have been manchester or london, or even somewhere else. all i remember is that a woman said "the train is ready to depart" (automatic voice?) and then a mans voice said "stand clear of the closing doors please" (definitly automated). thats all i remember, but its really annoying me now. do any rail buffs know where this could have been?

  1. Trouble is all new trains have to carry PIS (Passenger Information System) that have automated voice recordings.

Most of the South East Services (SWT, Southern, South Eastern) all have these now, so could have been any of them, i am not sure of the more Northern / Midland rail services as they are not due for stock changes yet.

So it could have been quite a wide area.

  2. Eliminate the accent/dialect and you should be able to zoom in to a region/area, may take some time though, ho,ho,ho.

  3. I am afraid that you are more likly to find a needle in a hay stack than find out what station/line that happened on!

  4. Standard announcement on London Underground and on many suburban line around the country which have auto doors. I think you have no chance of tracking down the answer with the little info given.

  5. I have no idea, but your anecdote reminded me of travelling on a train in Portugal many years ago. As the weather was very hot the train was bombing along with most of the carriage doors open. The Portuguese seemed to have no regard for health and safety. Some young lads were even sitting in the doorways, dangling their feet. Unbelievable!

  6. This sounds very much like the London Underground.

  7. London for sure
