I have had my license about a year and a half, and have been driving a 2500 long bed dodge. Im going to be buying a car in about a month or so. I cant decide whether to but a manual or auto, i know how to drive manual, but not real well and im out of practice. i live in a small town with minimal traffic. i enjoy driving, i do it more then i need to, and for fun. I am personally leaning towards a manual, but wanted some more suggestions.

thank you for any help

  1. I prefer manual transmissions.  Better MPG and an all around better driving experience.  It soon becomes second nature.

The downside is that they are harder to sell.  Most people cannot drive them anymore.  That being said, certain cars are not really hurt by having a manual.  Sports cars in particular are often preferable in manual form.

  2. I'd buy a manual because first you get better gas mileage. Second you can control the transmission and make it do what you want it to do. Third, manuals are just more fun to drive than automatics. And it will also get you more familiar on how to drive a manual and when you get good at it you will be able to drive any car and feel comfortable when you have to drive a stick. The ONLY reason someone should buy an automatic is if they drive in stop and go traffic all the time because that kind of takes the fun out of it.

  3. Assuming you don't live is an area with inclines steep enough to frighten a mountain goat, shift for yourself, by all means.

Getting under way after you've come to a stop pointing uphill can be nerve-wracking, but if that's not going to be an issue go for it.

  4. If I were you, I would just buy an automatic

  5. Manuals get slightly better gas milage. Plus, if you ever have a dead battery, you can push start you vehicle, get it rolling and pop your clutch. (i know, I've done it) lol

if your leaning towards a manual then that's what you should get.

  6. Manual trans are a lot of fun, don't worry about being out of practice, it's like riding a bike, you never forget how to drive one.  Go for the manual.

  7. get a manual

    unless

you like to smoke, drink and talk on your cell while driving.
