  1. Power to the radio will last for about 10 minutes after the key is turned off.  I gather that this is a convenience feature that is designed to save fuel, and save operating time on the control circuits for the entire vehicle.

You can manually turn the radio off, or it will turn off immediately when you open the door to get out.

I guess the idea is to allow you to listen to the radio for a bit when you have arrived at your destination and stopped driving, without having to consume fuel and keep the engine running.

Also having the entire electronic system off means that none of the other electronics are working, or being used, so no signals to the CPU from the fuel tank sensor, the oil pressure sensor, the coolant temperature sensor, etc.

If you listen to the radio until the timer shuts it off, and want to listen some more, then all you have to do is turn the ignition key to Accessory for a second, and then turn it off again.  The radio will run for another 10 minutes.

  2. my be that the circuit that turns the radio off when the key is turned off is shot. go to a dealer and ask them could be a recall out on it. if the circuit or what ever is bad you should get a new radio but probly mot from a dealer. I would go to like best buy and get a radio or crutchfield.com. crutchfield.com will give you any accesories need to make it fit like diffrent parts for your dash where the radio goes to make it fit nice and any needed wires along with detailed instalation instructions all for free.

  3. sound like they hooked up the acc wire to a straight hot wire
