How long after your baby learned to stand by itself did they take their first step? And how long after they took their first step did they actually start walking? I know all babies are different, but just curious when it happened for your babies. My daughter is 9 months and just started standing by herself 2 weeks ago. Today she took her first step. I'm just curious how long til she actually starts walking. Thanks!

  1. My son cruised the furniture, took one step at a time and stood alone since he was 10 months....he didn't walk properly until he was 14 months......he was a larger child though.

My daughter cruised the furniture, took a step, then walked a week before her first birthday.

It can be too hard to tell sometimes....it really depends on the child and how co-ordinated they are.

  2. Brace yourself, because she'll be walking any day. After my son took his first step he was walking within a week. He was a furniture walker for a while before he took his first solo step and just needed the confidence I think. He stopped crawling and walked everywhere. He was 10 months old.

  3. be careful what you wish for (lol) ... my son took his first step about 10 months and realized that crawling was faster for a while until 2 days before his first birthday he started walking and about a week later --- he was steady and trying to run --- the cutest little run ever, but he hasn't stopped running since ... lol ...
