  1. if u have been surfing for "3" years i would think you would know how to stand up

  2. I have to agree with everyone else -

    1. You probably don't surf on a regular basis. If you did, you would eventually learn, well before 3 years passed.

    2. The Indo Board is very useful for balancing exercises. You can also use a plain old skateboard (and some crash pads) if you're having trouble.

    3. Make sure the size (length, width, and thickness) of your board is consistent with your height, weight, and ability. The larger and wider the board, the easier it is for you to balance and turn.

    4. If you have really poor balance or get dizzy, you may have an inner ear problem. Sometimes eustachian tube dysfunction can cause coordination issues.

  3. Well first if you cant stand up you are not really surfing. Look it is impossible for it to be that hard.. I just learn to surf 2 days ago and i could stand up on my 3rd try. Know im passing to a Smaller board which is shorter and thinner which gives you more speed. I can recomend you a product is called "Indo board" just  look it ar ebay, amazon, google and see it yourself. It will give you the balance u are missing on ebat and amazon they sell it for less then 80$ so go for it. Just check it out i tried it and i loved it it helped me a lot. To stand up you need balance so before raising up be shure top be in balance and alingh with your board while you are face down to the water. Then remember you should have a proper board for a begginer and for someone your sice. I say begginir cause standing up is just the basic. You learn that with a basic surf board mostly are long and thick. Well I hoped this has helped you someway see ya!

  4. An indo board is an amazing balance tool that u can use to help keep your balance and stand up.  It certainly improved my surfing experience, please check this out if u want to improve as a surfer.- http://www.indoboard.com/

  5. Don't know if you ever had a lesson or not but 3 years is a very very long time not to be able to staqnd up.  When I give lessons students usually stand up in 4-5 waves or sooner.  My guess is you surfed for three years but haven't surfed on a regular basis.

Twist your toe on your back foot donw on the board with your knee slightly bent.  Then simply push your foot down and bring your other foot forward as you stand when the wave starts to move you.

You should angle on your first waves so you don't fall off.

  6. i think you maybe trying to get to your knees first you got to pop-up straight to your feet practice on shore push-up position then pop to your feet it will seem out of con troll at first like speed wobbles but you ll get the feel good luck keep trying we've all been there

  7. When I was learning to stand up, I would get up on one bended knee, like you're proposing to someone.  From there, just slowly stand up and twist your body around.  Keep your knees really bent so you have a low center of gravity and spread your arms out wide for balance and stability.  The wide stance is key.

Also, you can try just popping up to your feet, and skipping the knees.  That's what you will ideally be doing in the future.  Practice on land, in the privacy of your bedroom if you want.  Just lay on your stomach, plant your hands on the floor right by your chest, and practice popping up to your feet.  Remember, when you plant your feet, to keep them spread and knees bent.  You can even put a long strip of tape on the floor to make sure your feet are lined up and centered.

Practice, practice, practice.  The best way to become a better surfer is to surf.  So just get out there as much as you can and you'll get the hang of it.  :)

  8. Try a bigger, longer, more stable board. If your board is stable you will have an easier time standing. Once you get a hang of standing on a larger board, you can progress to smaller, more maneuverable boards.

  9. bend your knees, NOT your hips. keep your eye on the stringer of the board (the thin piece of wood that runs the middle of the board), it will help you line up your balance with the board. It's especially important that you stand up quickly as you slide to the bottom of the wave rather than standing up at the bottom and losing your speed. It is easier to balance when you are going faster, just as it is with a bike, the slower you go the more wobbly you are. Remember to slide your front foot up the stringer, keeping your back knee on the board, stand up with your front foot and it will raise your back knee. Bend the knees, not the hips to keep your balance. stay low.

  10. Try turning your steddy foot in wards, it can help with your balance, and your other foot just keep pointing to the nose of the board and it should work, but practice will help alot also.

  11. Hmm, well , what i do is simply paddle out, and try to get to the shoulder of the wave, from there, i turn either sideways, or backwards, and quickly, without letting my knees touch the board, do a quick "push up" , from there, i am now standing, then you just let the water carry you

    hope i helped ^^

  12. hold in your stomach muscles... keeps your center of balance. make sure your knees are bent don't try to stand up too quick
