Stanford University defeats Hawaii University by 3-1 – Volleyball news
The number three ranked Stanford University men’s volleyball team had a match with the number 14th ranked Hawaii University’s squad recently.
The venue of the competition was the Maples Pavilion. The resulting competition went on until four long and thrilling sets at the end of which the Stanford squad was able to end up on the winning side.
By the time that the Warriors were dealt the loss, the score board showed the following final set scores: 20-25, 25-22, 25-20 and 25-23.
The overall season record shows a total of 14 wins for the Stanford squad. These wins were accomplished by the Stanford team at the cost of incurring five losses. On the other hand, the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation record of the Stanford team shows
a total of 11 victories which were bagged after having lost four matches.
The overall season record of the Hawaii squad shows a total of seven wins at an increased expense of incurring 12 defeats in all. On the other hand, the MPSF statistics of the Hawaii team shows a total of four wins at the cost of a high number of 10 loses.
The first set of the match saw both the teams come out strong against each other from the start of the match. As the game progressed, no team was letting the other take the lead for a long time. However, during the middle of the frame, the Hawaii squad was
able to put on a spurt of speed and bag themselves the opening frame of the game at 25-20.
The second set saw the Stanford rally themselves together and step up their game. The Hawaii team also did not make it easy but eventually, the Stanford team was able to make the match reach a tie by securing themselves the second frame of the game at 25-22.
After the second set win, the Stanford squad was able to build on their confidence and put on an impressive show in the third as well as the fourth sets of the match. Hawaii could not do much except let the match slip out of their hands at 25-20 and 25-23
respectively.
