Former Lokomotiv Moscow coach has hailed his side’s latest win in the Russian Cup against Spartak Nalchik at Stadion Spartak on Tuesday
Terek Grozny head coach, Stanislav Cherchesov, has expressed his satisfaction over the victory in Round-of-16 of the Russian Cup against the Nalchik-based club. Three first-half goals from the Chechens helped their progression
to the quarter-final of the cup tournament.
The Grozny-based club will play against Lokomotiv Moscow in the next stage of the domestic cup tournament.
Cherchesov credited the entire team upon their latest win, saying that all the players put in a strong performance to please the travelling fans after their disappointing 3-0 home defeat against the Railroaders last week.
“We played aggressively after home defeat. We showed that how badly we wanted a positive result. We knew we can only forget about the league defeat if we can win against Nalchik in a different tournament. We have a task to go
to every game with the thought of winning.”
“Early goals played big part in our win and I think we were the better team on the pitch who made their fans happy. We should have avoided the conceded goal but the home team was desperate to get one back. I think we played quite
competently and got a deserved win.” The USSR Championship winner was quoted as saying.
The Chechens will now lock horns with Kuban Krasnodar on the away turf after their cup tie. Cherchesov insisted that the upcoming match holds immense importance and could help them in climbing up the league table.
As things stand, Terek are at the 4th spot on the league table and just two points behind the league leaders, CSKA Moscow.
However, Cherchesov will be without the services of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adlan-Katsayev-c3656 for the next league match. The Belgian International is having some problem with his leg muscles and the Russian midfielder is recovering from
a knee injury.
