Stanislav Donets claims Men’s 100m backstroke gold – FINA Swimming World Cup, Tokyo
Stanislav Donets of Russia claimed gold medal of the Men’s 100m backstroke on first day of the seventh stop of the 2012 FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup Series in Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday, November 6.
Donets showered his expertise in the backstroke sprint and proved his mettle for the title. With his persistent efforts in the four-lap discipline, he gained a comfortable lead over his opponents and touched the wall for title.
He went full rampant in the 100m race and snared the crown by hitting the wall in a time of 49.49 seconds.
His gold claiming effort remained one second ahead of Robert Hurley of Australia, who stepped on the victory stand for silver medal by producing a time of 50.49 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Ashley Delaney of Australia, who stayed 0.17 seconds slower and ended his race in third place by clocking a time of 50.66 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Junya Koga of Japan, who was 0.11 seconds apart and settled on the finishing blockade as fourth best finisher by posting an effort of 50.77 seconds.
Fifth best spot of the race was secured by his teammate, Yuki Shirai, was 0.26 seconds slower from overpowering Koga and tapped the wall with the timing of 51.03 seconds.
Similarly, Shirai was chased by Takahiro Yamazaki, who stayed 0.73 seconds slower from his former finisher and sprinted his way towards the finishing wall for sixth position by reporting an effort of 51.76 seconds.
Yamazaki was trailed by Takeshi Kawamoto of Japan, who suffered a loss of only 0.03 seconds from his former finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 51.79 seconds for seventh fastest place.
Last position of the race was gained by Japanese swimmer, Kazuki Watanabe, who stayed considerably slower from his preceding swimmer. Watanabe remained 1.03 seconds slower from Kawamoto and finished his race in eighth place by producing a time of 52.82 seconds.
In addition, Donets expressed happiness over his victory in the event and told that he would try to impress his fans by continuing the same in future competitions.
