Stanislav Donets seizes Men’s 100m backstroke gold – FINA Swimming World Cup
Stanislav Donets of Russia occupied gold medal of the Men’s 100m backstroke on day one of the sixth stop of the 2012 FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup Series in Beijing, China on Friday, November 2.
The Russian swimmer devastated hopes of his opponents in the 100m discipline and proved his audacity for the crown of the event.
With his remarkable start, Donets gained a slight lead over his opponents. He proved his supremacy over his opponents and tapped the wall for gold medal with a timing of 50.07 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Robert Hurley of Australia, who stayed 0.18 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end for silver medal by producing a time of 50.25 seconds.
Hurley was followed by Ashley Delaney of Australia, who stayed 1.28 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing blockade as third fastest finisher by submitting a time of 51.53 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Yuki Shirai of Japan, who stayed 0.09 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall with a timing of 51.62 seconds.
Shirai was chased by Feiyi Cheng of China, who stayed only 0.11 seconds slower from his former finisher and settled on the finishing wall for fifth position by clocking an effort of 51.73 seconds.
Cheng was trailed by Xiaolei Sun, who tried hard to ascend on the overall rankings list but could not match the efforts of his foregoing finishers. Sun remained 0.15 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with an effort of 51.88 seconds.
Seventh fastest spot of the race was obtained by Yu Zhang, who suffered a deficit of 0.21 seconds from Sun and tapped the wall with a timing of 52.09 seconds.
Zhang was traced by Jiayu Xu of China, who failed to overpower any of his opponents and concluded his race in eighth place by touching the wall with an effort of 52.49 seconds.
In addition, Donets received massive admiration from the audience for his notable form in the backstroke event and said that he would struggle hard to defend his title in future.
