The manager is furious after his side lost a 2-1 lead in the second-half and claimed only a point against league bottom side, FC Augsburg.
Hoffenheim drew 2-2 against FC Augsburg at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena on Saturday, February 4. The home side had the chance to close in on the seventh spot with a win but the display was poor as the visitors scored in the last quarter
of the game to earn a vital point.
Stanislawski claimed that his side played well throughout the first period but were disappointing after the interval. He insisted that it was a great achievement to score two goals after going down in the first-half but admitted
that his team played like amateurs in the last half hour of the game.
The manager stressed that his team had a great chance to secure three points against a team that has struggled all season but they failed to do so.
“Maybe we played 15 to 20 minutes well in the second half, but apart from that, there was no willingness from one or two players to stick to tactical things or show tactical discipline. At times, our tackling was of a low-standard
amateur football,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former FC St. Pauli boss insisted that his team will be in a relegation battle at the end of the campaign if they continue to play like this. He admitted that the players have to take more responsibility and called for improvement
in the future games. He added that the team needs to redeem itself in the upcoming German Cup clash on Wednesday.
“We are definitely in a relegation battle. There are no two ways about it.  With our current performances, we are going to have trouble getting out of danger. If we play like this on Wednesday, it will not be enough in the DFB-Pokal,”
he concluded.
Hoffenheim will next take on Werder Bremen at the Weserstadion on Saturday, February 11, in search of their seventh win of the season. The side currently stands in eighth place with 24 points from the 20 games played.
