Stanley Bridge to take charge of the Who’s That Gadgee Hoppo’s 70th Birthday Novices’ Handicap Hurdle at Carlisle
Carlisle is to host the Class 4 Who’s That Gadgee Hoppo’s 70th Birthday Novices’ Handicap Hurdle over two miles and a furlong on Thursday, 22nd March. Taking part in the event that has a purse worth £2, 599, is a highly competitive
and versatile lineup of nine four-year and older thoroughbreds.
From among the lineup, Stanley Bridge, Avonbridge’s five-year-old bay gelding out of mare Antonia’s Folly, improved drastically by the third start of the season. He broke into season with a third place, stumbled fifth in the next start and then captured
the last two races that came his way.
Stanley Bridge ended third in the Support The Pride Of Cumbria Handicap Hurdle on 5th January at Sedgefield over two miles and a furlong. The race was won by Emirate Isle who shoved the 13/8 favourite of the race, Langley, into the runner up’s
slot by 1 ¾ lengths.
On 20th January, Stanley Bridge was positioned fifth in the Yorkshire-Outdoors.Co.UK Handicap Hurdle at Catterick over two miles. The race was won by Endeavor who led the track of fifteen by 1 ¼ lengths and had Hammer following right behind.
Deny strode on for the third position behind the winner.
The 9/2 favourite of the race, Bunratty, was brought down.
Enough with missing the races, Stanley Bridge won the Wetherby Racecourse Sunday Car-Boot-Sale Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle on 21st February at Wetherby over two miles and half furlong. Thundering behind was Harry Handsome and settling
in the third spot was taken by the 4/1 joint favourite, Decent Lord.
The other joint favourite, Deny, ended sixth on the lineup of ten.
Stanley Bridge’s next victory found its way in the Champagne De Castelnau Novices’ Handicap Hurdle on 9th March at Ayr over two miles. He won by an amazing lead of fifteen lengths and made See The Legend finish second.
Catching up with the third spot was the 7/4 favourite, Carters Rest.
Winning today will get him a hat trick. Fifth start of the season coupled with a hat trick is the way to go around today for Stanley Bridge. He will need to stay alert and put in sincere effort to get the race going for him.
