Stanley Cup winning goal scorer Jeff Carter does not have a very happening with the cup
Jeff Carter, the scorer of eventual Stanley Cup winning goal for Los Angeles Kings, did not have a very outstanding or special day with the Stanley Cup with him back in his hometown, with all of his family, the friends and the team mates.
His day was actually described as quite, private and reserved by people, very different to what players and coaches normally have, with Stanley Cup.
The main reason of which, would have been his transfers, which he had not expected and wanted at that time. He was traded, mid way through the season by Columbus Blue Jackets for Jack Johnson and a conditional first round pick. The trade took place in the
month of February.
The London, Ontario resident made his NHL debut in 2005 with Philadelphia Flyers and played there for five years and had signed a long term contract, but in June 2011 he was traded to Columbus Blue Jackets, something that made him very depressed.
The 27-year-old forward talked about the feeling when he was forced to leave the team, which he did not want to, but he is also happy because of the fact that today he is the champion of Stanley Cup. And on the other hand, the team that traded him is nowhere
and finished last in their conference.
"This is what it's all about. You look back on it now, and obviously at the time, it was tough to take. I loved where we were at and I never wanted to leave. But we're sitting here today with the Stanley Cup, so it's pretty unbelievable."
The 6-foot-4, 199 pounder also talked about his achievements of winning world junior championship in 2005 with Team Canada, winning Calder Cup and Stanley Cup and told it is a great feeling, as he said,
"This is as good as it can get. I've won world juniors, Calder Cup and now the Stanley Cup. For a Canadian boy growing up, you dream about winning the Stanley Cup. When you have the chance and it actually happens, it's almost a surreal feeling.
In 516 NHL games that Carter has played, he has been able to score 202 goals, 175 assists for a total of 377 points.
