  1. knowing positron's and cyclotron's are a reality the movie "2001" is a sure thing

  2. Star Trek is a fantastic. More likely to be the life of Star Wars.

  3. No

  4. put it into warp 5 captain!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Nice thought, but we're far from the original concept.  It'll be a while.

  6. Since we have yet to find any other intelligent species outside of earth, it seems highly unlikely there will anything like Star Trek especially the Federation in at least a hundred years, if ever. But you never know, who would have imagined a hundred years ago technology would like it is now?

  7. one would like to think so....i think it depends if we don't kill each other off first...to bad we, as in us,  won't live long enough to see it.

  8. Wishful thinking, unrealistic in the extreme. 3 species evolving to use technology on the same planet at the same time: never!

  9. Maybe in a few hundred years.

  10. We can only pray and hope.

  11. A new TV series? I heard they were letting the franchise rest for a bit

  12. Many facets of Star Trek DO exist today!

Cultural Diversity/Political Correctness:  Roddenberry, on patrol as a LAPD street cop, often wondered how future society would be like if everybody simply got along.  Such tolerances of different cultures and races was well interwoven in the early Star Trek saga that Gene penned during his breaks from work and days off duty.

Today, nearly every facet of our society enacts forms of PC and Cultural Diversity, as part of Federally forced programs in our workplaces and businesses.

The Tricorder:  Every time I see that cool hand held gadget and look at my Blackberry....I give kudos to Roddenberry for inspiring such a whiz-bang gadget!  Go into Wal-Mart automotive and check out the guy w/ the cool hand-held bar code scanning device and how he can operate it wirelessly!!!

Universal Translator: A byproduct of the Tricorder, the Universal Translator could take ANY known galatic language spoken....and perfectly translated into English.

Well.....we have programs today that can do just that on the Internet!!!  Also, we have voice recognition programs--some that also do certain ordered tasks....and that techonology is STILL growing.........

Enterprise Sickbay: True to Roddenberry's vision, today's hospital beds have LCD monitors that at a glance give nurses and doctor's vital patient information.

Today's personal computers and even the Internet itself--all this cool whiz bang stuff, got it's inspirational birth from inspiring inventors as kids--watching Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek!!!

Massive behemoth sized space ships, fitted with warp drive propulsion and laser beam weaponry are a wee tad beyond our grasp.....but we're working on it.  3-D virtual reality like holographic techonology is just around the corner....and how you think Data would feel, seeing a picture of that Honda prototype robot, knowing he's viewing an image of his ancestrial roots????

I have to wonder what our society today would be like if Star Trek had never been made?
