Star Wars: The Old Republic gets a Collector’s Edition, Electronic Arts Origin exclusive – Rumour
Fans of the Star Wars franchise should brace themselves for the ensuing nerdgasm, as gaming’s finest source of news, game and product announcements (retail websites) have listed a Star Wars: The Old Republic Collector’s Edition.
Readers are warned that what they just experienced was the first of many nerdgasms they can expect to go through during the course of this article.
News of the Collector’s Edition first broke on Spanish and Polish retailer websites, before soon spreading like wildfire.
According to various sources on the internet, the Collector’s Edition is set to come packed with a number of features, which hard core Star Wars fans would be willing to exchange an arm and a leg for.
Rumoured to be priced at $175 (or €149.95), the box will not only hold the game (which itself will be housed in collectable metal case), but will also come with a Gentle Giant Darth Malgus statue, complete with a light sabre.
So with nerdgasm number two out of the way, there will also be an ‘Old Republic galaxy map’, a journal of Master Gnost-Dural and the box itself will be a collectible as well.
Now with Nerdgasm number three done with the box will also include an ‘Exclusive Music of Star Wars: The Old Republic CD’ as well as a, wait for it, Custom Security Authentication Key.
By this point we expect you know the drill with the nerdgasms and we shall stop mentioning them.
The Collector’s Edition will also come with a Training Droid; which will assist players in combat, a HoloDancer; which will allow players to project a holographic dancer, a HoloCam; which players can use to record their exploits and a STAP; which is an ‘in-game
vehicle.’
For those readers who may be too excited to have realised; the above paragraph has all the features the Collector’s Edition unlocks in the game itself.
Also on the list of in-game features is a Flare gun, a Collector’s Edition Store; which players gain exclusive access to with the purchase of the edition and finally a Mouse Droid.
The goodies seem to justify the price, with the statue being by far the coolest thing to have come with a Star Wars game for some time.
However, there does seem to be a catch as it appears that gamers can only Pre-Order the edition via Electronic Arts’ own digital distribution platform: Origin.
In another twist it seems that only the first 50,000 Pre-Orders will be guaranteed the Collector’s Edition while the rest will be put on a waiting list.
That is not all either, as it seems EA want to turn the Star War fans against each other as there are set to be only 500,000 Collector’s Edition available.
It seems that this time around the force will only be with 500,000 of the total Star Wars fan base.
