Star Wars in order, help??

Question

So today i went and bought Star Wars - Phantom of menace; episode 1. i dont have any basic knowledge of Star Wars saga, so i just checked that phantom of menace isnt the first installment.

so can anybody help me? i want someone to write in order from first till last. how many movies are there?

and, if i watch the phantom of menace first then i watch the other series, can i understand it then?

which one should i watch first? (Btw, i dont live in US, so virgin to Star Wars trilogy :P)

The order that they were released:

IV- A New Hope

V- The Empire Strikes Back

VI- Return Of The Jedi

I- The Phantom Menace

II-Attack Of The Clones

III-Revenge Of The Sith

The chronological order is:

I- The Phantom Menace

II-Attack Of The Clones

III-Revenge Of The Sith

IV- A New Hope

V- The Empire Strikes Back

VI- Return Of The Jedi

You can watch either trilogy before one another and still have it make perfect sense (both kinda interlink with each other in the storyline), but I prefer to watch it from episode 1.

Phantom menace is the first film, thats why its called episode 1.

when star wars first came out, geoerge Lucas made the last 3 films first then in the 90's went back and started making the first 3 films.

to be honest most of us Star Wars fans only see it fit to watch the all the movies in the order they were released.

So here the order that the films were released

Episode4 - Star Wars -  A New Hope

Episode5  -Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back

Episode6 - Star Wars  -Retun of The Jedi

Episode1 - Star Wars - The Phantom Menace

Episode2 - Star Wars - Attack of the Clones

Episode3 - Star Wars - Revenge of the Sith

you will understand it fine if you watch it 1 through 6, but you won't respect it in the same way, and be able to watch the new three films unravelling events as you go.

they are more enjoyable as Lucas intended them.
