  1. Western sky in the UK right now... You're probably looking at Arcturus. Is it reddish?

  2. Flickering suggests a star, and not a planet.  In the west right now is Arcturus in the evening sky.  If you follow the arch handle of the big dipper (the what of the plow?), it curves down to Arcturus.  Arc to Arcturus.

I see UFO's all the time.  But when i can't tell if it's an MD-9, a DC-9 or an old DC-8, well, it doesn't mean that aliens are visiting - it just means i can't tell which kind of jet it is.  Sagan's book "The Demon Haunted World" gives a much better explanation for why we aren't being visited, and just what it is that we are seeing. It's a great story. You might have a copy in your local library.  Mine does.

  3. It is not a star it is the space station lol

  4. How to check if it's Arcturus...

    Star hop.

Follow the arc to Arcturus.   The arc is in the Big Dipper.  Start at the bottom of the bowl for the Big  Dipper, trace up along the handle and keep that arc going.  Do you bump into the bright star that you are looking at?  It's a red giant.  There's another one to the south, Antares, it's the heart of Scorpious, it's along the ecliptic.

  5. I agree. Probably Arcturus, although I am surprised that you can see any stars at all!!

  6. There have been a lot of sightings in your country the past month.
