Star slugger Albert Pujols shows early signs of brilliance, hits his first two home runs – MLB News
Star slugger and former St. Louis Cardinals’ ace Albert Pujols has started showing his early signs of brilliance as an Angels’ player in this year’s Spring Training program.
He hit two home-runs against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday and received enormous appreciation from the Los Angeles Angels management after they signed him for 10 year with a hefty deal of almost $240 million.
“I don't look for that; I just try to put my best swings on the ball," Pujols said, "A good, quality at-bat."
This was the first time when Pujols hit two homers in a single game since coming into 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training as Los Angeles Angels player.
"We hope we're going to see that often," Angels' Manager Mike Scioscia said. "It's great to see him getting confidence in the box. He felt good after the second homer [about] his timing."
Earlier in the week some reporters have also asked couple of questions from Pujols, on which he answered in pretty detail and stated for his new beginning here in Los Angeles.
He said, "You know what, great memories, but I don't get caught up into those memories. It's a new season. Hopefully, we can make new memories. You don't get caught up in that stuff. You have to make sure that you move on.”
For the Angels, this is a healthy sign as they now possess one of the best talents in the Major League Baseball that has also placed them automatically in title contending position.
Last season, the St. Louis Cardinals were happy as they witnessed Pujols’ game which literally outplayed the Texas Rangers’ pitchers when he hit them real hard with crucial last minuets’ homers winning the precious title of World Series for the team.
Later after winning the World Series, he demanded a lengthy contract, but St Louis resisted giving him a long and expensive deal as they waived him to sign freely with any-other team in the league. While Pujols then signed successful deal with the Angels, who now considering him as role player from this season on-wards.
