The traditional motto of the contest has been to put together the bests of the best on the track, so as to make each competition memorable. When we look over the field that has been chosen for this year’s competition, we find that the event is going to do
justice with its tradition.
Cherishing the fact that the meet was going to be a grapple between world leaders, Patrick K, the meeting director said, “The 17 world leaders of the 18 events will be presenting will compete at Weltklasse Zurich, this year. We are working to complete the
list of the world leaders with pole vaulters Jennifer Suhr (USA) and are still hopeful to achieve this.”
Besides these world leaders, about 14 individual achievers, comprising of Olympic champions and reigning world champions will also make an appearance at the Zurich battle.
The provisional list of athletes already boasts of a star-studded field where no exceptional performer has been left out. With the event still being about a month away, expected athletes to emerge in Switzerland are Yelena Isinbayeva, Allyson Felix, Shelly-Ann
Fraser-Pryce, Sanya Richards-Ross, Carolina Kluft, Barbora Spotakova, Asafa Powell, Walter Dix, David Oliver and Dayron Robles.
Given the fact that before convening in Zurich all these emphatic performers will contest with each other at the World Championships, makes the Weltklasse Zurich 2011 competition all the more interesting.
The championships will be held only after four days of the conclusion of the World Championships, so, spectators may not find athletes as fresh as they would be seen in the Daegu event. However, they should rest assure about the fact that all of them will
show their true potential for dominating the respective fields in the prestigious athletics tournament.
