  1. its old style port oriented stuff, the wharf rats got it cause they were drunk, the kids got it cause they wanted to be cool, they grew up and the scratch artists do it cause its easy, it pays and its all "Salior jerry" If your q***r get a rainbeau, if you love the dark lord get a real pentupgram, if u love ink talk w/ur artist and get an origional unique piece of art like ur boyfriends name on ur ***. or sum salior moon stuff!

  2. sumthing to do with freemasonary stuff.. check into the masonary under the knights templer and such.. there is an eastern star for the women that looks very similar and is often used with various colors.

  3. In the 60's butch lesbians used the five pointed star to denote thier orientation (???) and would tattoo them on the inside of the wrist where it could be easily covered by a watch band during the day. Pretty silly if you ask me, considering that at a g*y BAR the patrons are g*y....blblblblblbblblblblbl....

a TRUE nautical star  has 8...count them...EIGHT points:

four main or long points for the four cardinal directions of North, South, East and West and then four smaller points for the interim points of NE,SE,SW,NW.

The star you have shown was used by sailors as a personal / superstitious bearing point as before the days of gyroscopes and GPS, a sextant and the stars were used to navigate a ship. Sailors away from thier ship felt better about being off ship by tattooing stars or even constellations on thier bodies.

If you get a tattoo, it ought mean something. This is something that will be with you for the rest of your life! having a tat just cos it looks cool is silly.....if you need ink on your body to feel whole, then you need to work on your self esteem.

  4. If you want to chose the word g*y as a derogatory term, then yes. It is g*y.

Otherwise, no it does not have a symbolic meaning of homosexuality. Many people just have them and they are completely common and boring.

  5. way to be origional...

  6. This one is a real old timer and never has been associated with homosexuality.

  7. This is one of the most common tattoo's out there. draw something your self it will have more meaning.

  8. dude, every person alive has that

  9. i dont think it is, my dad is a tattoo artist and he does them on all kinds of people. they're really popular.

  10. you and 459483 people have and/or want one.

    lame.

  11. i have a nautical star on my inner wrist.  i am not g*y.  i am most certainly not an emo!  ha!  in fact i got it before emo became well, whatever it is?!  anyways i just thought it looked cool. was a spur of the moment tattoo.  a person makes a tattoo what it is.  the tattoo does not make the person.  i also have flash, tribal, old school and some custom work done.  so what does that mean?  i'm unoriginal, a surfer, etc... ?!

in fairness though i do agree it is totally emo nowadays, but who cares?!  you're emo cos you like whatever emos like, not because you got a tattoo of a nautical star on your wrist!

  12. No, not homosexuality. More emo then anything.

Not sure of the exact meaning, something with sailing obviously

Nautical star tattoos are one of the most popular styles of star tattoo designs. Nautical stars have a long history in the world of tattoo designs dating all the way back to the early sailors, specifically Sailor Jerry, and his many tattoo designs.

In the days before modern navigation, stars were used for nautical navigation, and the star tattoo became popular with superstitious sailors, as a means of bringing good luck to guide them home.[citation needed]

Nautical stars don’t have to have a great deal of significance to be appreciated for their beauty, simplicity, symmetry and ability to serve as a backdrop or an additional ornamental element of any tattoo. They can be patriotic, in the form of stars and stripes, or simply ornamental star tattoos.

Although these stars were once only popular with people who were in some way attached to the water, but as time went on, other groups, including g**s and lesbians, punk rockers and those in the military, adopted the nautical star for their own purposes and as a very important symbol. The diversity of these groups has lead many to argue the meaning of their tattoos.

Many military people get a nautical star as a symbol for finding ones path home safely. Of course this can also include, more symbolically, finding ones way in life.
