  1. Darth Vader was motivated to protect his son in a selfless sacrifice.  The Force was bent to his will to put right that which was unbalanced.  Plus, as other have said the Emperor was wounded.

  2. sort of but anakin is the lord so he can do any thing

  3. he only bear annikan becuase annikan was cocky and went for the jump, it was a lucky shot, plus the suit that darth vader is in increases his strength and now he has the powers of the darkside

yoda is like 900 years old, its not that he couldnt beat the emporer its that he is too old, and weak now

  4. Why can Darth Vader beat the emperor: He is the Chuck Norris of Star Wars.

Why can't Obi-Wan beat the emperor: He never got a chance to try. He gave up and went to live out a hermit's life on Tatooine. So, who knows who would've won?

Why can Obi-Wan beat Anikin: Anikin is a trainee, Obi-Wan is a master. Anikin was over-confident, did a very stupid move, and Obi-Wan got lucky and chopped him in half. And, they were in a volcanoe, so he also caught fire.

Why can Anakin beat the Emperor: He can't. Darth Vader can. Chuck Norris, remember?

Why can the Emperor beat Yoda: He didn't win. Yoda ran away. If the Emperor won, Yoda would've died.

Add to the equation: Age, Skill, etc.

  5. oh you mean revenge of the sith it was alright

  6. My, quite the range of uninformed answers you've got so far.

The first thing to remember is that Anakin Skywalker had the highest midi-clorian count in the history of the Jedi Order ... higher than even Grand Master Yoda.  In terms of raw power none could come close to Anakin's level.

Yoda said that to Obi-Wan because it was true ... he could not match the power of Palpatine and would have lost painfully.  Obi-Wan was able to defeat Darth Vader on Mustafar because Vader was in a rage thinking that Obi-Wan had turned Padme against him.  That rage gave him great power but no common sense.  Wallowing in his hatred and power made him think he was invincible ... Obi-Wan even warned him that he shouldn't try to jump on the bank to fight him but Vader tried and paid the price.  Obi-Wan power level had no effect in this matter because it was ignoring common sense that was Vader's downfall.

The Emperor did NOT defeat Yoda ... their fight was a draw ... but a draw with a reason.  Yoda could have continued the fight but instead choose to walk away from it.  The reason can be found in the novel version of ep III.

When Vader killed Obi-Wan in ep IV it wasn't really a victory ... Obi-Wan sacrificed himself to help Luke escape.  Again, Obi-Wan told Vader that with the line "If you strike me down I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine" ... and again, Vader didn't listen.

One thing to remember about the "power levels" of each of these players ... Anakin Skywalker & Darth Vader were the most powerful Force users the galaxy had ever seen.  However, when Vader was forced into the suit to live he lost at least a third of his power maybe even more.  Why you ask ... simple.  In losing both is legs and arms his midi count was reduced also because they "live" in the flesh of a Jedi or Sith and when the amount of flesh is reduced the midi count is reduced as well.  Have you ever wondered why we never saw Vader use Sith Lightning?  It's because his arms and hands were not flesh and he could not do this task.  Also, sending Sith Lightning out through his robotic arms would short them out.  Both Anakin & Vader, before the suit, had the power to defeat Palpatine ... that's why he used that line on Padme saying he was more powerful than Palpatine and that he could over throw him ... he could have ... before the suit.

Another thing to remember ... Darth Vader did NOT throw Palpatine down the reactor shaft ... Anakin Skywalker did and it cost him his life but it didn't matter to him because he did it to save his sons life.

If you're wondering why I go back and forth using the names Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader it's because even though he was one person there were two different personalities inside him.  Anakin Skywalker was buried away inside Vader from the moment that he pledged his allegiance to Palpatine in ep III.  He was Vader until Luke cried out, not to Vader or Anakin, his father for help.  It was at that moment that the little piece of Anakin buried deep inside Vader latched on to a power that can not be defeated ... the power of the love a father has for his son.  In that moment the blindingly brilliant presence of Anakin Skywalker came flooding back into the light side of the Force.  When Anakin threw Palpatine down the reactor shaft he not only destroyed the Sith Lord Darth Sidious but also the Sith Lord Darth Vader.

The opinions here that use Yoda's age as a reason for his draw with Palpatine and then his death don't see the big picture.  Yeah, Yoda was almost 900 years old and seemed to be this fragile old being but do you remember his fight with Dooku and Palpatine.  He went from fragile to master of destruction in the blink of an eye.  His age had nothing to do with it.

Bet you're sorry you asked for opinions ... lol ... well that's mine.

May The Force Be With You ...

  7. Darth Vader is in a life support suit. So I say there are two thoughts there, my original thought is that the Emperor uses it to restrict him. Second thought, as my friends and I were talking about Vader and Star Wars yesterday, is that the Emperor could just use the lightening on Vader and it would short out the life support. So if Vader TRIED to beat the Emperor in a fight(meaning that the Emperor knew it was coming) he would kill him with the lightening from a distance before Vader had a chance. So Vader could ONLY beat the Emperor from the blind side.

Obi Wan never got the blind side shot at the Emperor. Two things there, one is that Obi Wan is a Jedi so he shows to the Sith and the other is a blind shot would be lucky in general. The Emperor never expected it from Vader and since Vader was a Sith the Emperor wasn't paying attention. As to him not being strong enough, remember the force is strongest in the Skywalkers. He would have had to be strong enough to beat a Sith Lord, something Anikan WASN'T. Anikan may have had the power of the force but he never really learned to control it properly and use his entire power. Anikan CAN'T beat the Emperor, he'd just be willing to fight him.

Yoda and the Emperor actually fought more to a draw. They were both Lords of their side. Yoda went to exile because the Jedi were defeated at that time. He knew the Republic had won for the moment, the battle was over and he had to decide how to help win the war.

  8. Don't you think that Darth Vadar honed the dark part of the force/his general dueling skills in the 20 years that is supposed to take place between episodes III and VI?

As an exstension of that thought, doesn't it stand to reason that Obi-wan and Yoda have gotten much older, and become weaker?

  9. Keep in mind that when Vader beat the emperor, He was killed as well.

Yoda wouldnt let Obi-wan fight Palpatine beacause he knew Obi-wan would play a part in things to come, he couldnt afford to die.

  10. Remember the emperor was defeated by Darth after fighting Luke, and he was hit from the side while he was busy attacking Luke.
