Starboard set to stand first in Tercentenary Stakes
Starboard is all set to shine at Ascot racecourse where he will run for the ace title of the Tercentenary Stakes on Thursday, June 21. The high-voltage Class 1 contest is scheduled to start at 5:00 (GMT).
On the good to soft track of 1 mile and 2 furlongs, the John Gosden-trained bay colt will run against 10 strong competitors such as Crius, Cavaleiro, Energizer, Goldoni, Grandeur, Mukhadram, Rewarded, Stipulate, Tales Of Grimm and Wrotham Heath.
The winner will walk away with the big prize cheque worth £39,697.
Starboard has fifty percent success ratio to his name. The three-year-old novice runner started his career with 6th position on September 3, 2011. He moved forward to break his maiden with a grand victory on November 1.
This was the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing EBF Maiden that took place at Redcar course. The young and energetic colt ran against 11 rivals to claim his maiden success.
The talented son of Zamindar out of Summer Shower extended this winning momentum to 2012 as well and earned a runner-up rank on May 17 while being an 8-13 favourite.
The skilled colt marvellously finished first in his last outing on June 9. These glorious feats have perked up Starboard’s confidence level to a great extent.
On his way towards the finish line, Starboard will have to face serve resistance from Rewarded who owns a terrific track record. The James Toller-trained bay colt staged stunning debut with a runner-up rank on September 17, 2011. He moved on to accomplish
a fabulous hat-trick from October 25, 2011 to May 5, 2012.
The son of Motivator out of Granted finished 4th against a dozen of rivals in his last start on May 19.
In this situation, there is likely to be a stern scuffle between Starboard and Rewarded. Let us see who of the two carries the day.
Grandeur is too likely to do well today. The Jeremy Noseda-trained grey gelding has won 2 of his total 5 starts so far. The brilliant horse nicely finished as a runner-up in his last outing on June 2, 2012.
